Newsletter – Spring/Summer 2016

VinesWith winter firmly behind us, our vines are starting to push out new shoots that will hold this year’s crop of grapes. After a relatively mild winter this year, we are looking forward to a harvest of high quality fruit this year.

We are also hoping our pluot trees (a cross between plums and apricots) will put forth their first viable crop this year. If so, you can look forward to a release of “plumcott” jam this winter.

In anticipation of long, warm summer days and nights, we have the perfect wine club release to match the season. Our 2014 Rosé is a big, dry Tavel style rosé like those of southern Rhône. It spent more time on the skins than lighter, crisper versions of rosé. It is a perfect match with the thinner, Italian style pizzas, or just sipping on your porch watching the sunset on a warm evening.

We are also releasing our 2014 Chardonnay. Like our Barrrel Blanc, this vintage fermented on 100-percent Allier French oak and spent six months on the yeast lees while we periodically stirred the barrels. It is showing some incredible complexity of aroma and flavor.

Our summer event schedule is as follows:

Friday, June 3: Perinton Liquor, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., 14 Courtney Dr., Fairport, NY 14450

Saturday, June 25: Ryan’s Wines and Spirits, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., 73 Easter Blvd, Canandaigua, NY 14424

Friday, July 1: Ryan’s Wines and Spirits, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., 73 Easter Blvd, Canandaigua, NY 14424

Friday, July 29: Bombace Wine and Spirits, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., 6081 NY-96, Farmington, NY 14425

Each of these events is free and a great opportunity to sample some of our wines, so bring your friends! We look forward to seeing you there!

Finally, we are hoping to have a summer celebration event in August. The tentative date is set for August 14 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. We will keep you posted on the details as we get them finalized! In the meantime, have a wonderful summer. We leave you with a photo of the blossoms on our quince tree.
